9th Annual C. S. Lewis

and the Inklings Conference

presents

Keynote Speaker

Tom Shippey

world-renowned scholar of J. R. R. Tolkien: Author of the Century

March 3-4, 2006

John Brown University, Siloam Springs, AR

“Faith, Friendship, Fiction”

The conference theme focuses on the conditions which forged these writers’ mythopoeic and theological notions.  Scholarly and thematic papers examining the impact of Christian faith and friendship upon the fictional works of Lewis, Tolkien, and other Inklings are especially welcome.

Papers and proposals are also invited exploring all aspects of the life, times, and writings of the Inklings, including literary influences and predecessors – ranging from Medieval epic to 19th-century fairy tale to 20th-century science fiction – that drew these Oxford writers together.  Scholars as well as students, both graduate and undergraduate, are invited to submit proposals.

The deadline for proposals is December 16, 2005.  You must be registered as a member of CSLIS to participate. See conference website for more details.
